Alpini and Bersaglieri

 This is the final lot of infantry. These don't form a full platoon, they may one day but not right now. They are some of the more specialised units.

This is an Alpini commander built mostly because I felt like it and I wanted something to go with my Alpini squad.

Alipin squad

This squad was built as a result of being on the wrong end of my son's German SS twin LMG squad. This has the two LMG's plus a Sgt and are purely a support unit. 

Bersaglieri snipers

Lastly, we have the Bersaglieri sniper team, because who do you want as snipers? your sharpshooters obviously! These are the only two Bersaglieri in the force and will probably not get any reinforcements. The only thing about this model I may change is the grenade, which is currently red but I may well repaint it to yellow. Why, red = explosive, yellow = smoke. So, I imagine him getting ready to throw a smoke grenade should their location be discovered before they can extract themselves.

VBCW force

 So it’s been a while since I posted on this new blog, but I have been pondering and planning my VBCW and Bolt Action forces. Slow burn

 So I knew that this blog would be a slow burning blog but I didn't think it would be as slow as it is!  Having not posted for a whole year, I thought I should put something up here! While there has not been any posts up, there has been some movement on the modeling front.  My son has built all the models now, building a British and German late war force both to around 900 points. Unfortunately due to the weather and time, most remain unpainted, with only the vehicles and British infantry primed. We have however played a couple of small games, 500 points, where the British have been trounced every time. Party I think due to the small size of the games and the advantage the German assault rifles have given. With bigger games they may well struggle at bit more, especially early game when the rifles can put range them.  Additionally to the Germans and British, I have been organising and starting to get my Italians together. Thoughts behind the VBCW force

As I put in my previous post, this will explain my thinking behind my VBCW force and why I have chosen what units to include and also where they will sit in the overall VBCW story line.  We’ll start with the easy bit, the list; The leader is a 2nd Lieutenant with pistol, because you need an officer to lead and a small force like this would be lead by a junior officer.  There will also be a Medic with pistol, because who would want to go to battle with out one? Plus you get an extra order dice for other units to use.   Next up are two Regular Infantry squads each with 8 men including a LMG team, so six rifles and an LMG team. They are formed of eight men in order to free up some models to act as the officer and medic, plus some other positions such as attendants for the officer and medic if needed.
